You may have noticed
the men dressed in blue cardigans across the
campus from time to time. We are the John
R. Kirk Chapter of Blue Key International
Honor Fraternity. The Men of Blue Key
hereby extend an invitation to you to our
2008 Spring Rush.
For years now, Blue Key has served as a
highly prestigious service organization
exemplifying the motto, “Serving, I Live”.
Founded on Truman’s campus in 1925, the John
R. Kirk Chapter of Blue Key membership is
35-men who exemplify the characteristics of
scholarship, character, leadership and most
importantly, service. Rooted in
service and helping both the Truman and
Kirksville community, Blue Key annually
conducts various large and small service
projects including: Fall Harvest and Day Out
For Those Without (Spring) for the Salvation
Army, Tutoring at Ray Miller Elementary,
Playing Cards at Twin Pines Adult Care
Center, Dog Walking for the Adair County
Humane Society, Soup Kitchen Meal
Preparation (Hope’s Kitchen), Coordinating
the Truman State University Homecoming
Parade, Rockin’ for the Troops Care Package
Project for Troops Overseas, Weekend Service
Trip to Kansas City, Fall and Spring Blood
Drives and other various service projects
throughout the year.
In the past several years, the John R. Kirk
Chapter of Blue Key has earned top honors at
the National Conference earning the
Outstanding Chapter Award, Certificate of
Merit, Chapter Marathon Award, and
President’s Award as well as Service
Organization of the Year on campus.
Each year, Blue Key chooses new members
based on academics, involvement, service
experience, personality and character. To
be considered for Blue Key you must have a
minimum cumulative grade point average of
3.0 and a minimum of 45 credit hours.
If you meet these requirements and are
interested, please stop by our Meet and
Greet on January 24 sometime between 6:30
and 8 in the SUB Activities Room.
Although this event is not mandatory, it’s a
great opportunity to meet our members and
discuss Blue Key, the Rush process, and any
other questions you may have.
